Excellence Award for Peter Chaffey
Peter Chaffey has received the EDA Award for Excellence - Agent of Change - for his pioneering work in developing and delivering a host of projects that have driven innovation and change over the past 35 years.
Economic Development Australia (EDA) is a specialist national body, open to anyone with a professional interest or involvement in economic development. Peter recently moved from Coordinator Economic Development at Knox Council into a new role as Partnerships and Investment Advisor.
Peter is using his extensive knowledge and skills to provide strategic economic analysis and advice to advance city investment.
As a pioneer, Peter started the first local government Economic Development Unit in Australia. His foresight and passion has driven economic development officers, government and business to share ideas and consult on best practice initiatives.
Significant achievements include coordinating the establishment of the South East Melbourne Innovation Precinct (SEMIP) initiative as well as supporting the establishment of the Knox Innovation Opportunity and Sustainability Centre (KIOSC) Trade Training Centre.
Peter has also been a driving force in facilitating the collaboration of Knox, Maroondah and Yarra Ranges Councils and Melbourne East RDA around the Bayswater Business Precinct project to facilitate investment and renewal within the industrial precinct to ensure future business growth and employment, and was the inaugural Chair of Melbourne East Regional Development Australia.
