Single-use plastics ban
Plastic pollution harms our health, wildlife, and the environment
Single-use plastic drinking straws, cutlery, plates, drink-stirrers, expanded polystyrene food and drink containers, and cotton bud sticks will be banned from sale or supply in Victoria by February 2023.
The statewide ban commences in February 2023. In the coming months, draft regulations to support the ban will be made publicly available for Victorians to view and provide feedback.
We’re encouraging Victorians to get ready for the ban, by avoiding single-use plastic items where possible and choosing reusable alternatives instead.
